David and Erin Van Dyke started WMR Livestock in 2015. Together they raise registered quarter horses and registered black Angus cattle. Erin has a passion for horses that she has had since she was a little girl, that has never gone away. She started out riding ponies at the county fair whenever she got the chance. She eventually got her first horse when she was 10 years old. Being the only one in her family that rode horses she and her mother, Judy, learned bloodlines together through the years. In high school, Erin learned that her school had a rodeo team. She went home to her mom and told her she wanted to barrel race. Joining the rodeo team as a sophomore, she started out pole bending and breakaway roping. Her mother knew the dangers of barrel racing, so Erin worked into that the next year. For junior & senior year, Judy bought a more competitive barrel horse for Erin to finish out her high school years on. Erin trained her own younger horse she had for pole bending. Erin was a top competitor in the state in Barrels & Poles. She typically finished in the top 3 at every rodeo in both barrel racing & pole bending her senior year of high school. In college, Erin was working for Department of Livestock. She took a short break from barrel horses & bought a cutting horse. But the barrel racing bug kept itching, so she sold her cutting horse after a couple years & got into breeding barrel horses instead. She started out breeding her good pole bending horse from high school. Then bought a couple broodmares she had her eye on over the years. Erin’s top preference is the “magic cross” in the industry… Dash Ta Fame bred stallion x Sun Frost bred mare. Other bloodlines she loves & have had great success with: Dash For Perks, Queen’s Coin, Jet Deck, Docs Oak, Frenchman’s Guy, Firewater Flit, Freckles Playboy, Wilywood, Doc O Dynamite, Royal Quick Dash, etc. Erin’s breeding philosophy is to raise horses that are structurally correct, & not only competitive in barrel racing but a quiet horse you can also rope on & enjoy as well. David grew up riding horses on his parent’s ranch. He did lots of riding with his father in the mountains & working cattle. David & Erin also take a handful of outside performance horses to train each year as well for anyone interested. They love sharing our horses with their kiddos & hope they will carry on their breeding legacies. They are standing their stallion, Famous Gold Coin, to the public and have several prospects to choose from each year. David & Erin look forward to visiting with you about your EV branded horse & how WMR Livestock can help you achieve your performance goals!
